2021
- On November 18, 2021, the Travis County Commissioners Court approved the purchase of 2.28 acres of city-owned land within the Colony Park Sustainable Community to move forward with the development of a Northeast Health and Wellness Center by Central Health.
- On September 2, 2021 City Council took action to authorize negotiation and execution on a variety of actions (Item 3, Item 7, Item 11, Item 12, Item 17) to support the development of a healthcare facility in the Colony Park Sustainable Community.
- On August 5, 2021 the Colony Park Neighborhood Association hosted the Fourth Annual Back o School Bash and distributed 1,688 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to children and families in the Colony Park community. In addition, 600 new books, 50 bicycles and helmets, and 52 COVID-19 vaccines were also distributed.
- On June 25, 2021 the Economic Development Department hosted Northeast Austin Economic Development Committee meeting, City and County staff discussed spending framework for federal funding awarded to the City and the County through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), including the $1.5M in ARPA funding dedicated to the development of the Colony Park Health and Wellness Center water and wastewater infrastructure. Discussions included Colony Park Sustainable Community development update, Central Health development update, Community Engagement update, and updates from other City Departments, and community and agency partners.
- On June 10, 2021, the City Council approved Resolution No. 20210610-077 adopting the spending framework for American Rescue Plan Act. The proposed spending framework includes $1.5M for the Colony Park Health and Wellness Center water and wastewater infrastructure.
- On May 18, 2021, City Council discussed the spending framework for American Rescue Plan during work session. The proposed spending plan includes $1.5M for the Colony Park Health and Wellness Center Infrastructure. Council also discussed proposed homeless encampment sites under consideration, including the Colony Park Sustainable Community property.
- On May 7-8, 2021, the Colony Park Neighborhood Association hosted the Colony Park Block Walk to meet neighbors and learn if there are any City services or information needed to support the community. Block walkers delivered free children’s books, personal protective kits (PPE) and informational brochures.
- On March 26, 2021, the Economic Development Department hosted the Northeast Austin Economic Development Committee meeting. Discussions included Colony Park Sustainable Community development update, Central Health development update, Community Engagement update, and updates from other City Departments, and community and agency partners.

- The City of Austin executed Amendment No. 1 to the Exclusive Negotiating Agreement with Catellus Development Corporation (Catellus), concerning additional activities to complete Phase 1 activities.
2020

- On November 11, 2020, the second phase of soil stock piling is completed and efforts to establish vegetation along with security measures such as fencing and signage are reinstalled.
- On October 29, 2020 Austin City Council approved Agenda Item #8 for additional predevelopment services for Catellus Development.
- On October 26, 2020, the City of Austin resumes the second phase of soil stockpiling on the Colony Park Sustainable Community site.
- On October 23, 2020, the Northeast Austin Economic Development Committee convened. This stakeholder group includes key representatives from the Northeast Austin community, local businesses and organizations, and members who play a critical role in the City.
- On August 25, 2020, a “Developer Public Meeting” was held to update the community on progress that Catellus and the City of Austin have made towards implementing the Colony Park Sustainable Community.
- On August 21, 2020, the Northeast Austin Economic Development Committee convened. - On July 23, 2020, the Economic Development Department in partnership withe Colony Park Neighborhood Association, hosted a virtual “Meet the Community” event where community members provided the history of the Colony Park. - On July 18, 2020, the City of Austin completes the first phase of soil stock piling and the contractor begins maintenance and safety oversight for the stock pile.
- On June 25, 2020, the Economic Development Department hosted a virtual “Meet The Developer” event with Catellus Development Corporation. Members of the Catellus Team discussed next steps for the implementing Colony Park Master Plan and took questions from attendees. - The City of Austin signs an Exclusive Negotiating Agreement with Catellus Development Corporation (Catellus).On May 11, 2020, the City of Austin begins stock piling soil at the 208-acre Colony Park Sustainable Community site. The soil will allow the City to begin preparing the site for future development. To safeguard the adjacent community, fencing and screening was installed around the area containing the soil. Additionally, silt fencing and other environmental controls were installed as required by code to protect the surrounding environment.
- In March 2020, Colony Park District Park Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting occurs.
- In February 2020, the Austin City Council approves an Interlocal Agreement between City of Austin and Central Health to explore opportunity for a Northeast Austin Health and Wellness Center on up to five acres within the 208-acre Colony Park Sustainable Community.

2019
- Colony Park holds the annual Holiday Dinner at Turner-Roberts Recreation Center. Over 680 donated gifts, including $4,950 and 20 donated turkeys, were provided to neighborhood children. Families enjoyed turkey dinner with all the fixings, face painting, musical performances and build your own holiday ornaments. (December 2019)
- Capital Metro holds a presentation and charette with developers to gather community input on the conceptual plans and design guidelines for the five stations being considered along the proposed MetroRail Green Line. (October 2019)
- The Northeast Austin Economic Development Committee meets. (October 2019)
- Capital Metro holds a Developer Forum to gather input from the development community on selecting five stations from the seven potential station locations along the MetroRail Green Line. Colony Park selected as one of the five station locations. (September 2019)
- The Back-to-School Bash helps 920 attendees prepare to return to school. Participants receive 721 free backpacks and school supplies, 50 immunizations, 41 sports physicals, and 45 haircuts. The first 100 eligible students receive bicycles. Thirty-one community organizations participated in the event. (August 2019)
- The Family Resource Fair features 41 exhibitors from a wide range of local organizations and workshops offering support in home repair, health care eligibility, job training, tax preparation and more. With 334 attendees, the festivities also included free health screenings, child identification cards, animal services, and updates on City-wide mobility and health efforts. (March 2019)
2018
| December | The Colony Park team, including community members, City staff, and consultants, attended the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) Central Texas Chapter annual luncheon held at the JW Marriott Austin. The event featured speaker Doug Farr, President and Founder of Farr Associates, who worked with Austin-based Urban Design Group (now Dunaway/Urban Design Group) to develop the Colony Park Master Plan.
Capital Metro receives a $600,000 grant through the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to examine potential Transit-Oriented Development along the proposed MetroRail Green Line. The Green Line would operate 15 miles of track owned by Capital Metro and travel east from Downtown toward Johnny Morris Road and the Colony Park area before reaching Manor. |
| October | The Austin City Council approves a recommendation to authorize negotiation and execution of an Exclusive Negotiation Agreement (ENA) between the City of Austin and Catellus, which leads to the creation of a Master Development Agreement. |
| June | The City of Austin Economic Development Department hosts a Community Meet & Greet for the Colony Park residents and Austin community members to meet the Catellus development team. More than 250 guests attended the event, which included a presentation, a moderated question-and-answer session, and the opportunity to visit with various project staff to gain a better understanding of the Colony Park Sustainable Community project. |
